Halle – economic hub and home to major companies

Halle an der Saale, together with the neighbouring city of Leipzig, is one of the most important economic hubs in Saxony-Anhalt. Halle, as a transport hub, is incorporated into the Halle-Leipzig S-Bahn suburban train network. Companies such as the Halloren Chocolate Factory, Coca Cola and Dell Halle are based in the region. The MDR, the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung daily newspaper and both major private broadcasters 89.0 RTL and Radio Brocken have their head offices in Halle.

 The lively university city, with Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and Leopoldina, welcomes its guests with historic sights, an exciting artistic and cultural landscape and a booming gastronomic and entertainment scene. The Kulturinsel (Culture Island), the Oper (opera house), the Thalia children's and youth theatre and the Staatskapelle Halle show modern productions.

Nature paradise and leisure area around Halle

In the area around Halle city there are nine nature reserves covering around 700 hectares. The lovely riverside landscape with its woods, lakes and beautiful river landscape is ideal for hikers, mountain bikers and walkers. Natural lakes such as Hufeisensee and Heidesee invite you to take a swim, a paddle and take part in numerous water sport activities. Experience canoeing, wild water rafting and rowing regattas along the river Saale. Equine sport fans can bet on the winner in the stunning Saaleaue with its legendary horse race track.

The Halloren and Saline Museum demonstrates the technology and history of salt extraction in Halle

The Haendel Houseis a music museum. It was first mentioned in 1558 and contains two permanent exhibitions: "Haendel, the European" and "Historical Musical Instruments".

The Moritzburg is a fortified city castle from 1484 and one of the most imposing buildings of the city of Halle. The castle was built in early renaissance style and later served as a residence of the Archbishops of Magdeburg. The Moritzburg contains the impressive art history museum
